Letter No.38 Capturing Moments
Yesterday, all my in-law family, including my wife, myself and Bubu,
took the Taipei MRT to visit a photo studio in the outskirt of Taipei City.
My wife arranged this trip all by herself because she thought it would be an invaluable opportunity
now that all of her family is together in one place.
She told me, after her grandpa's passing last year,
she realized how important it is to take a family photo sometimes to
"capture and record the moment."
The studio somehow gave me a nostalgic smell.
First of all, when I just entered the room, I could't help but notice
the tatami mat and a chabudai, or a short-legged wooden table,
both of which are reminiscent of traditional Japanese houses.
In the spacious room was full of wooden furniture like tables and drawers,
which are decorated with leafy plants, magazines, antique-ish ornaments,
and many souveniors from Japan, which includes a variety of Studio Ghibli goods.
On one side of the room, there was a huge whitest wall where I assumed we could take nice group photos.
I also liked the music playing in the room, which brings back fond memories from my old days in rural Japan.
Though Bubu was not particularly in a good mood, we managed to take a total of 880 wonderful photos.
Bubu ended up drooling his saliva more than he usually does at home, leaving water marks on everyone’s shoulders.
The good part about today's photo shooting is that you can obtain the photos on the next day of the shooting.
I have already browsed all of the photos and liked them very much.
They did capture lots of moments of our fun time with Bubu and his Taiwan family,
which you can hardly recollect without the presence of these photos.
The photos are indeed a great reminder of many forgotten moments.
And I'm sure I'm going to miss those moments even more when Bubu grows older.
Thank you young Taiwanese photographer for shooting us such pictures with sweet memories,
and thank you my sweet wife for reminding us of the importance of capturing precious family moments.
To be continued...
